natures lullaby

lulled asleep by the drip drop of the sky above.
i should be sleepy,
drawn from my list and into a dream.
i should be entranced
enticed by slumberous hallucinations.
how dare my eyes stay wide
when nature sings this lullaby!
how dare my list grow longer
as i get more done!
i should be in another world
alive only in my mind.
no other way to spend a beautiful night
than dormant in peaceful anesthetic.
good night, dear list,
i put you off once more.
