i hate your format
i hate your rules
you dictator
with your line by line format
and your sentence by sentence rules
you alienate any and all true forms
of learning and creativity
im sorry you view life in this way
for writing is life
my anger for you has subsided
only sorrow remains
how did you become so limited?
how did you break?
how was the orchestra of writing
twisted and demented in you eyes?
id love to see it all from your view
to recall those harsh breaking points
perhaps learn from your fall
im sure writing once meant to you
what it does to me
no one makes a profession of it
without falling madly in love with it first
but to get to the point
of lacking lust for it
youve married, loved, and left
divorce is imminent
separation obvious
you have only salvaged the skeleton
the remains
the left over heartache
im sorry you view life in this way
for writing is life

where have the good teachers gone?
the ones who learn to teach
and teach to learn?
where have the inspirations gone?
the dawsons and williams?
the love of reading
and the love of writing?
the love of learning
and the love of knowing?
where have all the good teachers gone?
where is the teacher who instructs to inspire?
not to require
to pass a test
but to enjoy
and revel in our history
our heritage
our past
and our present
to make our future
more intelligent
more wise
more loving
more teachable
our future is rude
our future is disrespectful
our future is dishonest
our future is unteachable
unteachable because nobody teaches
except for the test
nobody teaches
except for the money
nobody teaches
for the love of teaching
or the love of learning
thank you dawson
i love to read
thank you williams
i love to write
thank you God
for blessing me in my past
with teachers who taught to learn
and who learned to teach
and thank you God
for my trials i face today
for my teachings from my past
stand firm
hold fast
grip tight
so i will survive
i love to learn
and i will learn to teach
for the love of learning
and to teach to learn

kiss me in the rain
whirl me past the drain
dance like were insane
baby kiss me in the rain
feel the cool embrace
of lovers in the rain
like a child’s game of chase
run off all the pain
into the arms
of newfound gain
baby kiss me in the rain
hold me in the storm
splash me in the puddle
still my form
still my being
consume the love
this love so freeing
and kiss me in the rain
kiss me in the rain
whirl me past the drain
dance like were insane
baby kiss me in the rain

sometimes
looking back
i cant believe i was so foolish
i lost myself in lies
consumed myself in deceit
surround myself in fantasy
sometimes
looking back
i cant believe i lost it all
in the blink of an eye
surrounded by family
surrounded by friends
except they were false
they were fiction
it was jus a game to play
i was jus a piece to be moved
the goal was never truth
the aim was never love
sometimes
looking back
im so thankful
for what i have now
for all the love
for all the truth
for all the pain
for all the gain
i love my life
and i wouldnt trade it for anything

the devil is in the details
hidden in the staples
creeping through the cracks
squash him like a bug
plug all your holes
seal all your windows
because the devil is in the details
DONT LET HIM
satan is the ruler
of the slime
of the filth
of the wretched who slink about
dont become slime
dont let satan slip in
dont have details so overlooked
that the devil can rule them
[A/N] so "the devil is in the details" was written on the top of some sweet leaf tea i got yesterday. it got me thinking. i spent a good portion of finite math thinking bout this lil saying and ended up writting this. when i was talking to my dad this morning about it he explained that that saying simply means "read the fine print" not something complicated. hmph. i still like my explination. oh well.

so i can see our lives written out
in a fantastic romantic novel
one for the history
a westly and buttercup story
but i can also see our mistakes
i can hear them as they happen
it makes me sad
to think a westly buttercup story tainted
please dont taint
please dont let me taint
i can see it all clearly though
jus as though grampa were reading to me
while i am sick
"she surrendered to his kiss"
i see it written
in a fantastic novel
then thrown on the big screen
and acted in small plays
it really could go either way right now
tragic
romeo and juliet
heartache entangled romance of the ages
trial ridden
westly and buttercup
scorned with terrors of unknown
magical
prince charming and cinderella
horrid past brought together in rich beauty
quirky
noah and allie
hard core confusion bound by unbreakable ties
modernly
britney and k fed
disgustingly searching for someone who isnt there
please
oh! please
let us play out in a Christ like manner
drawn together in
a knowledge seeking
a wisdom growing
a wonder reveling
an amazing grace
how sweet the sound
relationship
a story for the ages
a story for the children
magically engulfed
a story for the youth
brimming with hope
a story for the elders
overflowing with remembrance
a story that shines with His love
i can see our story
written in ink
will you write with me?

Knowing I can’t resist much longer
I’m standing at the edge of the rain
Loosing my grip
‘Cause you surround
You cloud
You cover up my better judgment
I’m standing at the edge of the rain
Looking into all that misty fog
I’m standing at the edge of the rain
Stepping in predictable unknown
‘Cause you surround
You cloud
You cover up my better judgment
I fall to sin
Forget my promise
One moment with you
Replaces forever with him
Welcome to the storm

ever see a city
sky line
purple majestic
a wonderland
mans creation
touching the heavens
ever see a city
side walk
gray mortar
a wonderland
mans creation
living hell

i was porcelain
fragile, thin, beautiful
he made me crystal
delicate, clear, gorgeous
then i was glass
petite, transparent, lovely
you made me plexiglass
tough, thick, smooth
because of you
i can stop bullets
nobody can get through
because of you
like Superman
thanks to you

when did it all fall
apart
into place
away
i dont recall
a fall
at all
it simply did
couldnt be stopped
even if id seen it
things simply are
might as well agree
no turnin back
gravity is one way
so it has all fallen
apart
into place
away
and im ok
